On a quiet street one block from the River Tiber, the contemporary Hotel dei Mellini is housed behind a pristine 18th century neoclassical façade, formerly two apartment buildings. The 80 air-conditioned guestrooms are decorated in soft neutral shades of taupe and brown with heavy striped drapes, cream upholstery, coordinating patterned bedspreads, and cherry wood furniture. All have minibars, safes, direct-dial phones, high-speed Internet connections (surcharge), slippers, and satellite television with pay movies. Marble bathrooms include telephones, bidets, bathrobes, and Etro designer toiletries.
Guests can enjoy drinks and snacks on the sunny roof terrace with its canvas awnings, potted lemon trees, climbing greenery and flowering planters. For sun worshippers there is also an adjoining solarium with loungers and a shower. In the surrounding streets guests will find many boutiques and cafés including a tempting choice of cake and chocolate shops, and visitors are just across the river from many of the city's sights - the Spanish Steps, Pantheon, and Villa Borghese are all within one kilometre. The Vatican is two kilometres and the Coliseum is three kilometres away. The nearest metro station is Lepanto (800 metres) and Rome Fiumicino Airport (FCO) is 35 minutes and 33 kilometres drive from the hotel.

DRIVING DIRECTIONS
Express trains depart every 30 minutes to Rome's Termini train station (journey time 30 minutes). A single ticket costs 9.50 EUR. From Termini station, take bus 70 from Repubblica, opposite Termini station, for 12 stops straight to Vittoria Colonna, 200 metres from the hotel. Alternatively, take Metro Line A to Lepanto (five stops). From there, walk 800 metres to the hotel or take bus 913 or 70 four stops to Vittoria Colonna. A taxi from Termini costs around 15 EUR. Taxis are readily available at the airport; visitors should use a licensed metered taxi only. A taxi to the hotel costs around 40 EUR, including an airport surcharge. The hotel also offers airport transportation: 80 EUR from the airport and 50 EUR from the hotel.
